In the field of acoustics, a parametric array is a nonlinear effect that generates narrow, nearly side-lobe-free beam of low frequency sound wave with high directivity, through the mixing and interaction of high frequency sound wave, effectively overcoming the diffraction effect limit associated with linear acoustics. In this paper, three signal processing schemes used in parametric acoustic array, DSB-AM, SSB-AM and SRAM, are presented and analyzed using Simulink. Results show that, despite of the drawback of lower amplitude of output signal, SRAM has the much lower harmonic distortion, when compared to DSB-AM or SSB-AM.
